Privacy
Short version: this website and its AI assistant tool collect almost nothing. The calculator stores nothing you type, and the tool keeps only daily usage totals. If you choose to share what you paid for countertops, we keep those answers without anything that identifies you. If you choose to call the Oklahoma City referral line, that call is recorded and your details are passed to a countertop company.
This website
- The calculator runs in your browser. Every measurement, cutout and material choice you enter into the calculator is calculated on your own device. It is not sent to us and not stored anywhere.
- The ZIP box runs only in your browser; nothing is stored or sent. The optional "Find a local pro" ZIP box checks the ZIP you type against a fixed list built into the page. It is never sent to our servers or to any third party, never put in the page's URL, and never stored, including if you close or reload the page.
- One optional form. The "Share what you paid" form on the calculator page is the only thing you can submit on this site. It asks no name, email or phone number. What it keeps.
- If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to answer you. Email to questions@countertopcosts.com is forwarded to the owner's inbox through Cloudflare Email Routing.
- No accounts, no sign-up, and no advertising trackers on the site at this time.
- Visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and to see which pages are used and how fast they load. Cloudflare says its Web Analytics does not use any client-side state, such as cookies or localStorage, to collect usage metrics, and that it does not fingerprint individuals via their IP address, User Agent string or any other data for the purpose of displaying analytics. It records page views, the site that referred you, your country, browser, operating system and device type, and page load performance. Cloudflare processes this under its privacy policy. This applies to the website pages only, not to the AI assistant tool.
- No cookies are set by this site itself, and Cloudflare says its Web Analytics uses none. If the hosting platform sets any technical cookie, it is described here once known.
AI assistant tools
Countertop Costs offers countertop cost estimates from measurements and a material price comparison to AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude, through a connector athttps://countertopcosts.com/mcp. When an assistant uses it, the assistant's servers send us the measurements and options you give the assistant (lengths in inches, materials, edge, sink and backsplash choices). We use those details only to answer that one request. We don't store them, log them, or link them to you.
What we keep: daily totals only. For each day we count how many times each tool was used, which kind of assistant app it came from (ChatGPT, Claude or other), whether it worked, a rough count of results (none, one, two or three, or four or five), and how many visits came to our site from links in the answers (those links end in ?ref=agentand the tool's name). We also keep a few housekeeping totals per day: how many requests our limits turned away, how often an out-of-date figure was held back, and how often a few particular answers were served (to spot copying). The totals contain no questions, names, IP addresses or browser details, so they can't be traced to a person. We keep the daily totals for as long as the site runs. If the site is ever sold, they pass to the new owner.
Who else handles it: our host, Cloudflare, runs the connector and processes each request to deliver it. To stop abuse, Cloudflare's rate limiter counts requests per IP address for about a minute; we don't store that count. The assistant app you use (for example ChatGPT or Claude) has its own privacy policy for what you type into it. We don't sell or share anything from these requests, and the tools show no ads.
Extra details an assistant may attach: an assistant can attach technical hints to each tool call, such as your language setting, an app version hint and a coarse location. The tool does not read, use or keep any of these.
Your choices: there are no accounts, and nothing we keep can be linked to you, so there is nothing to look up or delete. You can stop using the connector at any time in your assistant's settings.

Price reports ("Share what you paid")
Under the calculator there is an optional form for people who already had countertops installed. The calculator works the same whether or not you use it, and we give nothing in return for a report.
What we ask: the material, about how many square feet (a range), the edge profile, the first 3 digits of your ZIP code, the total you paid (an exact amount or a range), the month and year they were installed, and, if you want, what kind of company installed them (for example "a home improvement store", never a company name). Every answer is picked from a list or is a number. There are no comment boxes. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, street address or full ZIP code, and your full ZIP code never leaves your browser.
What we keep with each report: those answers, the day we received it, which version of the form was used, and a scrambled fingerprint of the answers (used only to spot the same report sent twice). We do not keep your IP address, browser details or the time of day with a report, so a report cannot be traced back to you.
Spam protection: to limit each connection to a few reports a day and to skip a report sent twice, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address that changes every day, together with a second scrambled code made from that and your answers. Without our private key, which is kept only in our hosting settings and is never shown to anyone, neither can be matched to a stored report. They are kept in a separate table and deleted after 24 hours. Cloudflare's rate limiter also counts requests per IP address for about a minute; we don't store that count. Reports far outside published price ranges, repeated amounts and sudden floods are held for review and are not counted unless accepted. We keep a log of those review decisions.
What we publish: only summary figures: the number of reports, the median (middle) total, the middle half of totals once there are 10 or more reports, the most common size, a rough price per square foot and the range of install months. A material (nationwide, or within a 3-digit ZIP area) is shown only after at least 5 reports sent on at least 3 different days. We never publish a single report.
How long we keep it: reports are dated records that we add to and never edit, kept for as long as the site runs. If the site is ever sold, they pass to the new owner. We may share or license the summary figures and the report records themselves, which contain nothing that identifies you. We never sell or share anything about who sent a report, because we don't have it. We will not try to re-identify anyone who sends a report, and anyone we share or license the records with must agree not to try either.
Your choices: sharing is optional. Because nothing in a report identifies you, we can't find or delete one specific report on request. If you think you sent a wrong one, email support@countertopcosts.com with the material, month and amount, and we will mark matching reports as not counted.

Hosting logs (Cloudflare)
- What: the site and the tool are served through Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information for every request, such as the IP address that connected (for ChatGPT calls, usually an OpenAI server), the time, the address requested, request headers and the response status, to deliver and protect the site.
- Request logs: Cloudflare's Workers Logs feature is turned off for this site, so no per-request log of page visits or tool calls is kept through it.
- Rate limiting: to stop abuse, Cloudflare counts requests to the tool per connecting IP address over a 60-second window. The count is not stored by us.
- Recipients: Cloudflare, as our hosting provider. No one else.
If you call the Oklahoma City referral line
The number shown for Oklahoma City area ZIP codes on the calculator page, (405) 400-1250, is the countertop line of Local Times OKC, our sister directory site with the same owner. The AI assistant tool never shows this number. Calling it is up to you; this website only shows the number and shares nothing with the line. When you call:
- Who answers: Local Times OKC answers, not a countertop company directly. Local Times OKC passes your details to a local countertop company.
- Recording: calls to the line are recorded. Recordings are kept for 90 days.
- Call logs: your caller ID, the time of the call and call details are logged. Lead records are kept for 2 years.
- Missed calls: go to voicemail. Voicemails are recorded, transcribed and emailed to Local Times OKC.
- Sharing: your details are shared with the countertop business you are referred to. That business is independent of us and handles your information under its own practices.
- Questions or deletion: email questions@countertopcosts.com to ask what is held about your call or to ask for it to be deleted.
Your choices
You can use the calculator and the AI assistant tool without giving any personal details. You can disconnect or remove the tool at any time in your assistant's own settings. Because we store nothing from the calculator, and nothing from the tool that can be linked to you, there is nothing of yours for us to delete; for anything else, email questions@countertopcosts.com.
Before we add anything else
If this site or the tool later adds a way to send measurements to a fabricator outside Oklahoma City, request quotes, track a call from this site, add other analytics, or keep anything more from the tool than the daily totals above, this page will be updated first to say exactly what is collected, who receives it, how long it is kept, and how to ask for it to be deleted.
